The Arts
No great city is complete without a strong connection to the arts—and we’ve got that in spades! Especially since we opened the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts in 2009. This performing arts centre (which to many of us believe should be more properly referred to as an arts and cultural centre) is a 43,000 square-foot facility that offers a cavalcade of multicultural celebrations, festivities and artistic performances from local,national and international artists. Greenery and Sports
Richmond Hillians enjoy a rich outdoor life (even in winter!). After all, it’s easy to get outdoors when your city has 166 parks and 544 hectares of undeveloped natural land. And of course there’s the Oak Ridges Moraine that runs through the north end of our city. Oak Ridges is a lovely and expansive section of protected wilderness and marshes. It offers endless outdoor entertainment, with the help of the various governmental programs and local, volunteer-run organizations that increase awareness and plan activities in the moraine.
Natural green spaces aren’t the only way to stay fit in ‘The Hill’ though, we also have numerous recreation centres, 5 public pools (including Canada’s largest indoor wave pool!) and more. The Richmond Green Sports Centre and Park alone has numerous baseball diamonds, TWO skating rinks, an amphitheatre capable of holding up to 300 people and a skateboard park. There’s also a number of golf courses to help you sharpen your game at over the years—all of which are within a short drive of your home and real estate in Richmond Hill.
A Mixture of Areas
Possibly our favourite part of life in Richmond Hill is the diversity of areas. Within a reasonably small geographic area you can go from farmland and marshland to skyscrapers that mingle with historic buildings. Within a few minutes you can go from hiking in the Oak Ridges Moraine to cosmopolitan shopping on Yonge street. Then head to the downtown core for some authentic Chinese food (or as they call it in China…food). You can then return to your home in minutes—whether that me in the small-town feel of Oak Ridges, the heritage homes near Mill Pond or the estate residential homes that are spread out across the city.
With all the above, in combination with a solid economy and a highly-educated population to support professional-level jobs—Richmond Hill is truly the place to live in Southern Ontario.
